AIB2B's Unique Civic Activism
Lead: Joy Chen
AIB2B highlights civic and social issues du jour many organizations shy away from, and proudly takes a definitive stand in line with our Asian pro-family and pro-business conservative values. The org has developed a reputation of deep connections and partnerships with local politicians, engaging residents in charitable and community events drawing thousands to meet their elected reps, involving Asian Americans in the political process as voters and candidates, and bringing to life many initiatives, projects and activism, liaising with the business community and holding electeds accountable.
Current Project (2020): Fighting Prop 16
This year, Joy leads our political efforts, in partnership with Californians For Equal Rights (CFER), the official No on 16 group, as we fight the repeal of 1996's Prop 209, which was a definitive statement on equality, barring discrimination based on race, gender, national origin, etc. In 2020, we have slid backwards and the California legislature wants to repeal this statement. Protecting meritocracy is our number one priority.
