Education

walnut christian community fair 2021
Our 2nd Annual Walnut Christian Community Fair is on 10/23

With the same tagline, “Food. Family. Faith. Fun.”, we have upped our game this year. Currently, over 65 vendors are confirmed  This will again, be education and youth focused, with a whole lot of animals, competitions, activities, entertainment and overall programming. With a special multicultural focus!

Despite pushback from the LA County Health Department targeting churches, we continued and created lifetime memories for the attendees last year. Two short months later, the Supreme Court ruling stopped the LA County Health Dept in its tracks on fining churches left and right. This year is an exuberant celebration of that victory.

Vendor spots are filling up fast. This year's fall fair will be the best one yet, with a petting zoo, live music entertainment and lots of food. A great day for the family!

Already, we have confirmed musical acts Crafted Child, an alternative Christian band based in LA and Lauren Ahleeza, an R&B/Soul, funk, pop and indie/folk artist. They will be entertaining us throughout the event.

Shop local! Our vendors include Cisneros Essentials (essential oils), Shabby Chic Customs, John Scarlet Designs, Clio Clay, Hand Stamps by Anna, Letters & Feathers, Nac & Jac Creations, Oils In Bloom, Dudley Labs Pet Accessories, The Penguin Creates and many more.

Lots of food and drinks, like Front Row Teppan, Quemada Tacos, Changing The Culture Coffee, Heavenly Gourmet Churros, Mobar, Cheesecake Queen, Let's Fiesta Aguas, Dee's Bakery of Indonesian baked goods, Bees and Honey, Krynklez Filipino Desserts, and much more.

A shoutout to all our educational vendors, which will be providing school resources for the community: Money Munch Kids, Blackbird and Company, CHEA, Public School Exit, Stanza Academy, Southland Christian School, Grand Canyon University, Excellence In Education, and many more.

And to our business and nonprofit sponsors like NAMI Los Angeles, Rose Hills, the Christian Community Credit Union, and many more.

We will also have our petting zoo thanks to Save The Animals Today Sanctuary, and our business fair with youth entrepreneurs. Love animals? We will also have Guide Dogs of America and the LA Sheriff's dogs.

And a big thanks to our media sponsor 95.9 The Fish for advertising our event!

Make sure to RSVP, whether you're an attendee or exhibitor. Click Here.

Promoting Quality Education Options

Lead: Denise Soto

Our Education committee started with a few mixers and has now evolved into a series of educational fairs uniting the community and featuring quality education options from charter schools, homeschools, private schools, religious education to supplemental skills-based and after-school programs.

We realize that it's time to take a strong stand against constant attempts to thwart choices and feature other options besides public schooling. However, we also seek to keep public schools accountable and to support parents of public school students with nonprofit and supplementary resources.

AIB2B takes a holistic approach to education, fostering moral character and resilience, through embracing failure as a building block to success, encouraging parents to promote sports and arts and to focus more on the substance of learning than a regimen of test taking simply to get into the perceived best schools.

Our October 2020 Block Party Was A Success & Made National News

Hundreds attended this socially distanced and COVID-compliant event! Despite pushback from the LA County Health Department targeting churches, we continued and created lifetime memories for the attendees. Two short months later, the Supreme Court ruling stopped the LA County Health Dept in its tracks on fining churches left and right.

Sign On To Letter Opposing AB101
Petition summary and background:
Critical Race Theory (CRT) is opposed by 75% of people who learn about it. However, it has now become the foundation for recommended curriculum in many school districts through Sleeter’s and tolerance.org’s “Learning for Justice” guidelines. Ethnic studies curriculum and the state mandate should NOT be a vehicle for CRT, but it functionally is. The recommended curriculum undermines the stated goals of promoting ethnic studies and diversity, but instead fosters division and racial conflict, as well as promoting low self esteem by playing into victimhood and targeting whites, labeling kids as inherently racist.

Action petitioned for:

We, the undersigned, urge the legislature to oppose AB101 and present a better ethnic studies curriculum by first 1) observing school districts who have adopted the Sleeter curriculum and its negative effects, and to 2) focus back on academics, such as promoting Honors and AP Math and Sciences, to uplift our students’ self esteem through true merit-based achievement.
